How do you book British train tickets on the internet?
I’ve been to that "Britrail" website, but I don’t want to buy a general pass. I want to get quotes/prices for individual train trips from one city to another city.
http://www.farefinder.thetrainline.com/ This is the best fare finder on trainline.com and is best for most big destinations as it finds the very cheapest tickets available.
I always use this tool to book my tickets. You can have them posted to you first class post for free or the other option is to pay online and take the card you paid with to the station before your journey and the ticket machine will print the tickets for you, i’ve done it both ways and never had any problems.

I don’t know if you can buy them from outside of the UK, though.

The trainline is good, but you can sometimes buy even cheaper tickets from the actual rail company websites.
